  SECTIONS

The PSA Pictorial Print Division (PPD) offers one section in each of four Classes for the 2018 PSA International:

  (1) Open/General - Large Color Class (CPA)
(2) Open/General - Large Monochrome Class (MPA)
(3) Open/General - Small Color Class (CPB)
(4) Open/General - Small Monochrome Class (MPB)

All entries in either Monochrome Class section must conform to the Monochrome Definition given below.
Commercially made prints are allowed provided no adjustments or enhancements are done by the commercial printer.

All acceptances in the section for each Class are eligible for Pictorial Print Division Star Ratings in that Class subject to the requirements of the PSA Pictorial Print Division and for listing in PSA Who's Who in Photography. The target acceptance rate will be between 30% and 36% in each section.

The exhibition is open to anyone; however, an entry may be rejected when the sponsoring organization or its agent, in its reasonable discretion, believes the entry does not conform to the exhibition rules and conditions.

An entrant’s images will not be presented to the judges consecutively. An entrant’s four images will be distributed throughout four rounds of judging for that section. Distribution of images shall be in the same round order as submitted by the entrant

Images will be judged using a 15 point scoring system (2-5 points/judge).

  ENTRY FEES

A person may submit a maximum of four (4) prints in each print section of this exhibition and all work must be the work of that same person. Verified multiple submittals by and/or for the same person in the same section will cause all images in all sections of this exhibition for that person to be disqualified. Any acceptances and any additional awards will be revoked with all entry fees retained.

All prints must be shipped flat and unmounted.

No prints will be returned to the maker. All prints will be destroyed after the Exhibition. No signature is required. You agree to this condition by submitting an entry.

  MONOCHROME DEFINITION

An image is considered to be Monochrome only if it gives the impression of having no color (i.e. contains only shades of grey which can include pure black and pure white) OR it gives the impression of being a grayscale image that has been toned in one color across the entire image. (For example by Sepia, red, gold, etc.)

A greyscale or multi-colored image modified or giving the impression of having been modified by partial toning, multi-toning or by the inclusion of spot coloring does not meet the definition of monochrome and shall be classified as a Color Work.

  PREVIOUSLY ACCEPTED IMAGES

Any print (or a print from a nearly identical in-camera duplicate) previously accepted in any prior PSA International Pictorial Print Division Class is not eligible for entry in the same Pictorial Print Division Class of the 2018 PSA International.

Any print previously accepted in any PSA Recognized Exhibition may not be retitled and resubmitted in any PSA Recognized Exhibition or in the PSA International with a new title.

Informative Note: PSA Recognized Exhibitions are not "THE" PSA International Exhibition. Prints accepted in PSA Recognized Exhibitions but not in a past Pictorial Print Division section of the PSA International Exhibition may be submitted in the Pictorial Print Division sections of the 2018 PSA International.

  DUPLICATE IMAGES

An image may be entered in only one section of the 2018 PSA International regardless of Division, Media, or Title.
All acceptances of that image will be revoked if multiple acceptances of the same image are discovered after judging.

While PSA considers a color version and a monochrome version of the same image capture to be different images, color versions and monochrome versions from the same capture may not be submitted to both Color and Monochrome sections in the same year.

  QUALIFIED IMAGE STATEMENT

Entries must originate as photographs (image-captures of object via light sensitivity) made by the entrant on photographic emulsion or acquired digitally. By virtue of submitting an entry, the entrant certifies the work as his/her own and permits the sponsors to reproduce all or part of the entered material free of charge for publication and/or display in media related to the exhibition. This will include the Exhibition (audio-visual program) of the accepted images to be shown at the 2018 PSA Conference, low resolution posting of accepted images on a web site and may include use in the PSA Journal. Images where entrants do not give this permission will be declined and entry fees forfeited.

The exhibition assumes no liability of any misuse of copyright. All final work must be on photographic film, or on electronic file, or on photographic or electronic print material, mounting excepted. Images may be altered, either electronically or otherwise, by the entrant. Artwork or computer graphics created by the entrant may be incorporated if the photographic content predominates, subject to divisional restrictions.

Informative Note: PSA Journal policy requires a model release signed by the subject for publication of any model images in the Journal. This policy also applies to close-ups of people not taken in a public place. It is the entrant's responsibility to get such a release at the time the image is captured. Do not submit releases unless requested.

  CATALOG

Prints accepted in this Exhibition will be eligible for Pictorial Print Division Star Ratings applications by PSA members subject to the requirements of the Pictorial Print Division. An online Pictorial Print Division Exhibition PDF Catalog listing all acceptances in all four Pictorial Print Classes of the 2018 PSA International Exhibition is included with your entry fee. You can download the catalog using a link on the Exhibition Web Site www.psa-photo.org/psa-international. You can save the Catalog as an electronic file and/or print it out. This Catalog will contain the same information that will be provided to the Pictorial Print Division Star Ratings Directors. It will include color reproductions of the medal winning images. Printed hard copies of the Catalog will not be mailed to the entrants.

All entrants winning medals in any Pictorial Print section will be asked to submit high quality jpeg digital versions of their winning prints for inclusion in the Pictorial Print Division Catalog and posting on the PSA Exhibition web site.

  AWARDS

  Each Class
PSA Awards
1-PSA Gold Medal; 1-PSA Silver Medal; 1-PSA Bronze Medal, 6-PSA Honorable Mention Ribbons

PPD Awards
Creative (Altered Reality) Award; Portrait (Human) Award
Chairman's Choice Award
Club Award (See Below)

Additional PSA Silver Medals, Bronze Medals and Honorable Mention Ribbons will be awarded depending on the number of entries received.

Entrants of prints awarded any PSA Medal (Gold, Silver, or Bronze) are requested to submit a 6" x 4" @ 260 ppi digital version of the winning image within 5 days after receiving notice of the award for possible publication in the PSA Journal and posting on the PSA Website. Images of entrants not submitting the digital version will not be published.

  Club Award Determination
The four scores in a single Class of each member of an eligible club will be totaled; then the totals of the members
of that club with the highest totals, up to a maximum of 7 members, will be combined to determine that club's
score. The club with the highest resulting total will be the winner of the Club award for that Class. Entrants must
enter as a member of that club for the entrants' scores to be counted.

  DATA PROTECTION

By entering this exhibition, you are explicitly consenting to the personal details you have supplied, including email addresses, being held, processed, and used by the exhibition organizers for purposes associated with this exhibition. You also explicitly consent to such information being sent to organizations that have accorded official recognition, patronage, or accreditation to this exhibition. You acknowledge and accept that entering this exhibition means the status and results of your entry may be made public. Email addresses and contact information will not be made public.

  BREACH OF CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

If at any time, it is determined in the reasonable discretion of the exhibition organizer or the judges before, during, or after the judging of an exhibition that an entrant has submitted entries where one or more images may fail to comply with these Conditions of Entry, including the stated definitions, the exhibition organizers reserve the right to delete the entry from the exhibition and void any or all acceptances or awards in connection with the exhibition. Fees may be forfeited or refunded in these circumstances. The entrant acknowledges that the decision of the exhibition organizers or the judges is final.

In order to ensure that images comply with the Conditions of Entry and definitions, the exhibition organizers may carry out reasonable measures to verify that:
    a) the images are the original work of the entrant and
    b) the images comply with the rules and definitions as set out in these Conditions of Entry.
These steps include, but are not limited to, questioning any entrant, requiring the submission of RAW files or other digital files representing the original capture of the submitted image(s), confronting the entrant with evidence that one or more submitted images fails to comply with the Conditions of Entry (also known as Entry Rules), and offering the entrant a reasonable opportunity to provide counter evidence to refute the exhibition organizer’s evidence by a set deadline. Such entries that are not cleared or are still questionable after the entrant has presented evidence may be considered in breach of these Conditions of Entry, and declined. Such entries may be referred to PSA for further investigation of possible ethics violations.

PSA retains the right to investigate in any way all complaints/suspicions of breaches of entry conditions, impose sanctions if deemed necessary, void the acceptances of any image found to violate the PSA rules, include the entrant’s name on the list of sanctions provided to Exhibitions, and share such investigations with FIAP. Entrants automatically agree to these terms by the act of entering the Exhibition and agree to cooperate with any investigation.

WARNING: An entry received from an exhibitor under sanction by PSA at the time of entry will not be included in the judging and the entry fees will be forfeited.

  TITLES

Each Image must have a unique title. Once an image has been accepted in any PSA Recognized Exhibition, regardless of section or Division, that same image, or a like “in camera” or a “reproduction” duplicate of that image may not be retitled if used in any other PSA Recognized Exhibition. Words such as "Untitled" and "No Title" are not acceptable as part or all of an image's title, nor are camera capture filenames.

Titles will not be read aloud during judging.

Please limit titles to 35 characters including spaces and punctuation. The Entry Form software will clip any excess characters resulting in an incomplete title for inclusion in the Catalog. This will cause problems when applying for Star Ratings.

In addition to the title, the back of each print must have the name and address of the entrant in a position that clearly indicates the top of the print from the rear. Only pressure sensitive (self-adhesive) labels may be used for titles, names and addresses on the backs of unmounted prints to prevent bleed-through of the ink. The titles on the backs of the prints must match the titles on the Entry Form.

  PRINT SIZE

Large Prints (Class A) may not exceed 20 inches or the metric equivalent (508mm) in the longest dimension or 16 inches or the metric equivalent (406mm) in the shortest dimension. (16 inches x 20 inches). Metric A2 size is NOT acceptable. Any print that meets the size limits for Small Prints below is NOT acceptable in Large Prints.

Small Prints (Class B) may not exceed 12 inches or the metric equivalent (304mm) in the longest dimension or 8-1/2 inches or the metric equivalent (216mm) in the shortest dimension. (8-1/2 inches x 12 inches). Metric A4 size MEETS the Class B limits.

  PUBLIC EXHIBITIONS

Selected * prints, including all award winners, will be dispayed at the 2018 PSA International Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah between October 2, 2018 and October 5, 2018.

*Space constraints may prevent showing all Pictorial Print acceptances at the Conference. All award winners will be shown. Accepted images not included in the show will still get full credit towards Pictorial Print Division Star Ratings and Who's Who listing and will be in listed the Pictorial Print Division PDF Online catalog.

  STATUS LIST

All prints must be shipped unmounted and flat regardless of the country of origin. Mounted and/or matted prints will not be judged, entry fees will not be refunded and prints will not be returned.

Club entries shipped in a single package are preferred but not required, especially in light of new regulations for international mail to US destinations from some countries. The club name must be clearly stated on all packages. The Club Coordinator must include a separate master list with the name of each club entrant and the fees paid by each entrant. If multiple packages will be shipped, this list must be in each package and should also indicate how many packages are being shipped. Club entries must conform to the Group Entry requirements below to be eligible for the group fees.

  SUBMITTING PRINTS - GROUP ENTRIES

These conditions are in addition to the "Submitting Prints" instructions above and must be followed for entries to be eligible for the group fees listed above. The coordinator for the group entry will be contacted if the entry does not meet all the requirements below and the prints will not be judged until the proper non-group fees have been paid.

• A Group Entry must consist of entries from 10 or more AUTHORS (makers), shipped in one or more packages at the same time. All entries do not need to be in the same package but all prints by a single person must be in the same package. Entries may be for more than one section.

• The person responsible for collecting and shipping the group entry must include a legible master list in English of all makers included in the group entry, broken down with the name of each participant in the group, the sections each participant entered, the fees paid by each participant, and the title of each print each participant entered in each section. If the shipment consists of more than one package, the list must be in each package and must also indicate how many packages are being shipped. The list must also include the name and email address of the participant who will be considered the group coordinator should the Co-Chairmen need to contact someone about the group entry.

• Each individual entry in the group must include printouts of the properly filled-in email entry forms. Group entries that do not include all such entry forms will not be considered valid group entries.

• Participants may not pay individually using the Exhibition PayPal site. All fees must be paid as a lump sum by the Group Coordinator using a special PayPal link provided by the Pictorial Print Chairman or must be included with the prints as either cash in $US or check(s) drawn on a US bank and made payable to "PSA". A single combined check is preferred to individual fees.
