  SECTIONS
 
  The PSA Photojournalism Division offers two Print sections for the 2018 PSA International:

 
  (1) Photojournalism section
(2) Human Interest section

All entries in the Photojournalism Section must conform to the Photojournalism Definition given below.

All entries in the Human Interest section must conform to the Photojournalism Definition given below and the Human Interest Definition given below.

 
  All valid acceptances in each section are eligible for Photojournalism Star Ratings subject to the requirements of the PSA Photojournalism Division and for listing in PSA Who's Who in Photography. The target acceptance rate will be between 30% and 36% in each section.

 
  The exhibition is open to anyone; however, an entry may be rejected when the sponsoring organization or its agent, in its reasonable discretion, believes the entry does not conform to the exhibition rules and conditions.

An entrant’s images will not be presented to the judges consecutively. An entrant’s four images will be distributed throughout four rounds of judging for that section. Distribution of images shall be in the same round order as submitted by the entrant

Images will be judged using a 15 point scoring system (1-5 points/judge).

 
  ENTRY FEES
 
  A person may submit a maximum of four (4) prints in each print section of this exhibition and all work must be the work of that same person. Verified multiple submittals by and/or for the same person in the same section will cause all images in all sections of this exhibition for that person to be disqualified. Any acceptances and any additional awards will be revoked with all entry fees retained.

All prints must be shipped flat and unmounted.

No prints will be returned to the maker. All prints will be destroyed after the Exhibition. No signature is required. You agree to this condition by submitting an entry.

  PayPal is available for payment online. Please note that you do not need a personal PayPal account to pay using our PayPal, just a valid debit or credit card (Master Card, Visa, Discover Card, American Express). Please do not combine payments for the Photojournalism Digital sections with payments for Photojournalism Print sections or for other Divisions in this Exhibition. Do not submit payments for other people on the same transaction.

If you do have your own personal PayPal account you must still use the Exhibition's PJ Print PayPal link to submit your payment to receive proper credit. DO NOT SEND PAYPAL PAYMENTS DIRECTLY TO PSA.

Entrants may also pay in US Dollars by cash or check. All checks must be made payable to “PSA” and must be drawn on a US bank. Entrants are requested to notify the Photojournalism Print Chairman if they intend to pay by cash or check. IRC's are not an acceptable form of payment.

Entry fees are due by the closing date, even if paid by check or cash. Any entry without paid entry fees will not be judged.

 
  PHOTOJOURNALISM DEFINITION
 
  Photojournalism entries shall consist of images with informative content and emotional impact, reflecting the human presence in our world. The journalistic (story-telling) value of the image shall receive priority over pictorial quality. In the interest of credibility, images that misrepresent the truth, such as those from events or activities specifically arranged for photography or of subjects directed or hired for photography, are not eligible. Techniques that add, relocate, replace or remove any element of the original image, except by cropping, are not permitted. The only allowable modifications are removal of dust, scratches or digital noise, restoration of the existing appearance of the original scene, sharpening that is not obvious, and conversion to greyscale monochrome. Derivations, including infrared, are not eligible.

 
  HUMAN INTEREST DEFINITION
 
  Human Interest is defined as an image depicting a person or persons in an interactive, emotional or unusual situation, excluding recreational and sports action.

  MAKER'S NAME
 
  The maker’s name and/or the image title must not be in the image area or in any other area visible to the judges of any digital files, slides or prints. This includes copyrights.

 
  PREVIOUSLY ACCEPTED IMAGES
 
  An image (or a nearly identical in-camera duplicate) previously accepted in any PSA International Photojournalism Division section is not eligible for entry in any Photojournalism Division Digital or Print section of the 2018 PSA International.

An image previously accepted in any PSA Recognized Exhibition may not be retitled and submitted in any PSA Recognized Exhibition or in the PSA International with the new title.

 
  Informative Note: PSA Recognized Exhibitions are not "THE" PSA International Exhibition. Images accepted in PSA Recognized Exhibitions but not in a past Photojournalism section of the PSA International Exhibition may be submitted in the Photojournalism Division sections of the 2018 PSA International provided they meet the Photojournalism Definitions.

 
  DUPLICATE IMAGES
 
  An image may be entered in only one section of the 2018 PSA International regardless of Division or Media.
All acceptances of that image will be revoked if multiple acceptances of the same image are discovered after judging.

 
  QUALIFIED IMAGE STATEMENT
 
  Entries must originate as photographs (image-captures of object via light sensitivity) made by the entrant on photographic emulsion or acquired digitally. By virtue of submitting an entry, the entrant certifies the work as his/her own and permits the sponsors to reproduce all or part of the entered material free of charge for publication and/or display in media related to the exhibition. This will include the Exhibition (audio-visual program) of the accepted images to be shown at the 2018 PSA Conference, low resolution posting of accepted images on a web site and may include use in the PSA Journal. Images where entrants do not give this permission will be declined and entry fees forfeited.

The exhibition assumes no liability of any misuse of copyright. All final work must be on photographic film, or on electronic file, or on photographic or electronic print material, mounting excepted. Images may be altered, either digitally or otherwise, by the entrant subject to Divisional restrictions.

 
  CATALOG
 
  Valid acceptances in these sections of this Exhibition will be eligible for Photojournalism Division Star Ratings applications by PSA members subject to the requirements of the Photojournalism Division. An online Photojournalism Division PDF Catalog listing all acceptances in all four Photojournalism Sections of the 2018 PSA International Exhibition is included with your entry fee. You can download the catalog using a link on the Exhibition Web Site www.psa-photo.org/psa-international. You can save the Catalog as an electronic file and/or print it out. This Catalog will contain the same information that will be provided to the Photojournalism Division Star Ratings Director. It will include color reproductions of the medal winning images. Printed hard copies of the Catalogs will not be mailed to the entrants.

 
  All entrants winning medals in either Photojournalism Print section will be asked to submit high quality jpeg digital versions of their winning prints for inclusion in the Photojournalism Division Catalog and posting on the PSA Exhibition web site.

  Additional PSA Silver Medals, Bronze Medals and Honorable Mention Ribbons will be awarded depending on the number of entries received.

Entrants of prints awarded any PSA Medal (Gold, Silver, or Bronze) are requested to submit a 6" x 4" @ 260 ppi digital version of the winning image within 5 days after receiving notice of the award for possible publication in the PSA Journal and posting on the PSA Website. Images of entrants not submitting the digital version will not be published.

 
  DATA PROTECTION
 
  By entering this exhibition, you are explicitly consenting to the personal details you have supplied, including email addresses, being held, processed, and used by the exhibition organizers for purposes associated with this exhibition. You also explicitly consent to such information being sent to organizations that have accorded official recognition, patronage, or accreditation to this exhibition. You acknowledge and accept that entering this exhibition means the status and results of your entry may be made public. Email addresses and contact information will not be made public.

 
  BREACH OF CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
 
  If at any time, it is determined in the reasonable discretion of the exhibition organizer or the judges before, during, or after the judging of an exhibition that an entrant has submitted entries where one or more images may fail to comply with these Conditions of Entry, including the stated definitions, the exhibition organizers reserve the right to delete the entry from the exhibition and void any or all acceptances or awards in connection with the exhibition. Fees may be forfeited or refunded in these circumstances. The entrant acknowledges that the decision of the exhibition organizers or the judges is final.

In order to ensure that images comply with the Conditions of Entry and definitions, the exhibition organizers may carry out reasonable measures to verify that:
    a) the images are the original work of the entrant and
    b) the images comply with the rules and definitions as set out in these Conditions of Entry.
These steps include, but are not limited to, questioning any entrant, requiring the submission of RAW files or other digital files representing the original capture of the submitted image(s), confronting the entrant with evidence that one or more submitted images fails to comply with the Conditions of Entry (also known as Entry Rules), and offering the entrant a reasonable opportunity to provide counter evidence to refute the exhibition organizer’s evidence by a set deadline. Such entries that are not cleared or are still questionable after the entrant has presented evidence may be considered in breach of these Conditions of Entry, and declined. Such entries may be referred to PSA for further investigation of possible ethics violations.

PSA retains the right to investigate in any way all complaints/suspicions of breaches of entry conditions, impose sanctions if deemed necessary, void the acceptances of any image found to violate the PSA rules, include the entrant’s name on the list of sanctions provided to Exhibitions, and share such investigations with FIAP. Entrants automatically agree to these terms by the act of entering the Exhibition and agree to cooperate with any investigation.

WARNING: An entry received from an exhibitor under sanction by PSA at the time of entry will not be included in the judging and the entry fees will be forfeited.

 
  TITLES
 
  Each Image must have a unique title. Once an image has been accepted in any PSA Recognized Exhibition, regardless of section or Division, that same image, or a like “in camera” or a “reproduction” duplicate of that image may not be retitled if used in any other PSA Recognized Exhibition. Words such as "Untitled" and "No Title" are not acceptable as part or all of an image's title, nor are camera capture filenames.

Titles will be read aloud during judging.

Please limit titles to 35 characters including spaces and punctuation. The Entry Form software will clip any excess characters resulting in an incomplete title for inclusion in the Catalog. This will cause problems when applying for Star Ratings.

In addition to the title, the back of each print must have the name and address of the entrant in a position that clearly indicates the top of the print from the rear. Only pressure sensitive (self-adhesive) labels may be used for titles, names and addresses on the backs of unmounted prints to prevent bleed-through of the ink. The titles on the backs of the prints must match the titles on the Entry Form.

 
  PRINT SIZE
 
  Prints may not exceed 12 inches or the metric equivalent (304mm) in the longest dimension or 8-1/2 inches or the metric equivalent (216mm) in the shortest dimension. (8-1/2 inches x 12 inches). Standard Metric A4 size (210mm x 297mm) meets the size limits.

Prints exceeding either of these dimensions (Oversized prints) will not be judged or returned and entry fees will not be refunded.


 
  PUBLIC EXHIBITIONS
 
  Selected * prints, including all award winners, will be dispayed at the 2018 PSA International Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah between October 2, 2018 and October 5, 2018.

*Space constraints may prevent showing all accepted Photojournalism Prints at the Conference. All award winners will be shown. Accepted prints not included in the show will still get full credit towards Photojournalism Division Star Ratings and Who's Who listing and will be listed in the Photojournalism Division PDF On-Line catalog.

 
  EMAIL SPAM BLOCKING
 
  Photojournalism Print Entry Forms and Report Cards will be sent to entrants via email from pjdpinternational@psa-photo.org. Please be sure that this email address has been included in your "safe" email addresses to assure receipt of these emails instead of having them blocked by your security system. Also check your Junk E-Mail or spam folder to see if your email software placed any messages from the exhibition there.

Filled-in Entry Forms and Report Cards will be computer-generated emails. Computer-generated emails are automatically blocked by some internet email servers so please contact them in accordance with their instructions to allow any computer generated emails from the email address above if they do not show up in either your Inbox or your Junk E-Mail folder.

PayPal confirmation for online payments will come directly from PayPal using the sender name via PayPal as the sender name and member@paypal.com as the sender email. It will be addressed to you using your name as entered on the PayPal page.

 
  SUBMITTING IMAGES
 
  You must complete the Photojournalism Division On-Line Print Entry Form to enter. When ready, click on the PJ PRINT ENTRY FORM button below and fill out the form, confirm you have read, understood, and will abide by these Conditions of Entry, and submit your entry. Your entry will not be submitted unless you confirm you have read these Conditions.

After submitting your entry on-line you will receive three (3) emails, a filled-out entry form for each of the two sections and one with mailing labels for shipping your prints to the Chairman. Print each entry form email and the mailing label email.

Prints for all sections should be mailed in the same package and sent to the Photojournalism Print Chairman at:
