Select a competition closing date, shown below, to submit your images.
These competitions are open, free of charge, to all
PSA members, who are in good standing, as one of their many membership benefits.
This competition is exclusively for images of humans, including tasteful nudes.
Entries must originate as photographs (image-captures of objects via light sensitivity) made by the entrant on photographic emulsion and digitally scanned or acquired digitally. By virtue of submitting an entry, the entrant certifies the work as his/her own and permits the sponsors to reproduce all or part of the entered material free of charge for publication and/or display in media related to the competition. This may include low resolution posting on a web site. The competition assumes no liability of any misuse of copyright.
Images may be altered, either electronically or otherwise, by the maker and artwork or computer graphics created by the entrant may be incorporated if the photographic content predominates. All final work must be an electronic file.
Neither the maker's name or the image title shall not appear in the image area of the digital file.
Any image that received an award or Honorable Mention in a previous PID Individual Portrait Competition is not eligible for re-entry.
As many as two digital images may be entered in each competition but the same image may not be entered in Monochrome and Color in the same year.
Please note: In order to achieve consistency among all the division competitions, group names were recently changed by PSA. Do not worry about what group you upload your images to. All images will be adjusted to the correct group prior to judging so that awards are assigned appropriately. Everyone will be notified of their group with scores. Thank you for your patience.
Images must be "jpg" format.
The maximum allowable horizontal dimension (width) is 1024 pixels.
The maximum allowable vertical dimension (height/tall) is 768 pixels.
Smaller images are acceptable.
It is not necessary to re-name your image file; that will be done for you automatically.
Saving your files files using the sRGB color profile is recommended as it is optimum for the projection conditions used in judging.
For each class of each competition: Ribbons will be awarded for First, Second and Third Place awards will be presented, as well as for Best Female, Best Male, Best Child, Best Indoor, Best Environmental, Honorable Mentions and three (3) Judges Choices. The number of Honorable Mentions will be determined by the number of entries.
At the end of the competition year, all Award and Honorable Mention images will be judged in their classes for the Best Portrait of the Year. There will also be a Best of the Year Award for Best Female, Best Male, Best Child, Best Indoor, Best Environmental, and Best Monochrome Portrait.
The Best of the Portraits Competition results will be shown during the PSA Annual Conference and the awards will be presented at the PID Luncheon during the PSA Annual Conference.
