Divisions

Divisions

PSA has six Divisions, each one is unique offering competitions for individuals and clubs, and study groups for individuals.   Each Division provides the opportunity of recognition for Members who are entering PSA-recognized exhibitions and have earned acceptances.  Members can apply for Star Ratings and Recognition of Photographic Achievement Distinctions in each Division.

Pictorial Image Division (PID)


PID includes open or general subject photography, there are no limitations on subject matter or techniques used for image capture or post processing, other than the restrictions described in the PSA Statements on Artificial Intelligence, Image Creation and Authorship, and Subject Matter, which apply to all Divisions.

Nature Division (ND)


The Nature Division includes both digital and print photography with the subject restricted to portraying the many aspects of nature - plant and animal life, natural features of land and seas or natural phenomena.

Photojournalism Division (PJD)


Photojournalism includes both digital and print photography. PJD is devoted to recording current events or situations to preserve both the event and the emotional impact for the future. News, features, man and man's environment, human interest, and other topics all are included in Photojournalism.

Photo Travel Division (PTD)


Photo Travel includes both digital and print photography and seeks to portray the world as close to reality as we find it. Photo Travel photography challenges the photographers who enjoy travelling, trip planning, and photography.

Pictorial Print Division (PPD)


PPD includes both color and monochrome prints. Digital capture, film photography, desktop and darkroom processing, and commercial prints are included in the Division's activities.

The subject matter of an image submitted to a PPD program or activity is unrestricted.

3D Division (3DD)

Division Study & Discussion Groups 

Division Study groups are made up of photographers from all experience levels (beginner to pro) who share an interest in a particular type of photography, such as nature, macro, and/or creative.
A study group is a safe place to get helpful feedback from other photographers and a great place to form lasting friendships.
