Jeffrey Venning has been actively involved in photography in Australia since his mid-teens. He thought 35mm was the only way to go until changing to digital 2006. He soon found the instant feedback and flexibility of the medium was more exciting than film and this renewed his passion for the art of photography. He classes himself as an opportunist photographer and tends not to focus on any one subject in particular.
He is actively involved in his local photographic club as president and a member of a smaller nearby club. He also holds positions in his state photographic body (SAPF) and national body (APS). In 2016 he was awarded a State Service award due to his extensive involvement in photography in rural Australia. This included teaching photography, mentoring, judging competitions as well as community level events.
He enjoys the activity of the Folio in PSA and looks forward monthly to the new imagery presented by the other participants. The commenting on and scoring of these images keeps his judging skills honed.
He has been participating in National exhibitions since 2006 then moved into International exhibitions in 2011. After joining PSA in January 2016 he achieved his PPSA in January 2017. He is going to pursue Galaxy honours during 2017 and beyond.
