Irene Hinke-Sacilotto

For nearly 40 years, Irene has shared her photographic images, experiences, and love of nature through more than 300 photo classes, workshops, lectures, and tours in both the U.S. and abroad including Kenya, Iceland, Newfoundland, the Falkland Islands, Patagonia, and the Brazilian Pantanal. U.S. workshops include the South Dakota Badlands, Bosque del Apache NWR, Chincoteague NWR, Assateague National Seashore, and Tangier Island. Program sponsors include zoos, nature centers, and conservation organizations such as the National Wildlife Federation and Assateague Island Alliance. An award-winning photographer, she is a frequent judge and speaker at camera clubs with programs on wildlife, bird, and garden photography as well as on the Pantanal, Assateague Island, Chincoteague NWR, and Tangier Island. Multiple times, she has lectured at Johns Hopkins University and other educational institutions. Her How To articles on nature photography have been published by Outdoor Photographer and Birding.

Irene's images have appeared in magazines, calendars, and books published by National Wildlife Federation, Natural History Society, National Geographic, Audubon, and Sierra Club. Credits include the book, Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, an Ecological Treasure. Ms. Sacilotto has 37 years experience as an environmental scientist. She is a charter Member of the North American Nature Photographers Association (NANPA) as well as a member of the Photographic Society of America (PSA). Her work has been exhibited at the Smithsonian Institute and the Maryland Science Center. She is a major contributor of images to Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge for interpretive displays.
