The PSA Historical Book Collection consists of approximately 1500 books, magazines, journals and other significant historic articles which have been donated to the society and its members. The oldest is a copy of ‘The American Annual of Photography and Photographic Times Almanac’ dating back to 1896. Bound copies of the PSA Journal are a treasured part of the archive. The Book Collection is preserved and housed at PSA Headquarters in Oklahoma City, OK. Each publication is catalogued and entered into the PSA archival system database when it is accepted into the collection.
New books and documents are accepted as contributions. Even though the collection uses the word ‘Historical,’ PSA would like to emphasize that we will take books published as of today and will become historically important to photography and the photographic process as time passes. Signed documents, magazines, academic journals and books are especially important to the collection.
Please consider a book or document contribution to the PSA Historical Book Collection. Not all books will enter the collection due to storage limitations and duplications; however, we would like the chance to see your beloved collection for possible inclusion in our preserved collection. If you have a potential donation, contact Jessica Rice by telephone or email at PSA Headquarters.
