Erik began his photographic experience while attending college in the late 50's, shooting friends, events and family vacations. After a tour of duty and completing school, Erik spent 38 yrs. in the Financial Services Industry until his retirement in 1999. During the early 80's he took his photography to a higher level by joining two Photo clubs in the Buffalo, NY area to hopefully obtain a greater depth of photographic knowledge, meet new friends and enjoy a better photographic experience.
After moving to Largo, Fl. Erik joined the Suncoast Camera Club of Clearwater in 2000 and PSA in 2001. He went through the chairs and was elected Club President 2005-2009. Erik was Chairman of the Central Florida Chapter 2005-2009. He was appointed PSA Treasurer of the Electronic Image Div. (EID in 2009 and was asked to continue those duties for the newly named Projected Image Div. in 2012. The position he is most proud of is his work as Dir. of PSA Club Judging Services. Erik obtains PSA-trained individuals to judge and critique many of our member club's monthly and year-end competitions. This valuable service has received rave reviews and is responsible for many members enjoying a more complete photographic experience.
Erik's work has graced the covers of Focus an international financial publication and Tampa Bay Magazine and his photos have been included in newspapers and periodicals. In 2008 his image Come Fly with Me captured Best of Show in the PSA Chapters Showcase, a national competition. He has won 70+ PSA and FIAP medals and has placed in the top 5 of the Nature Div. 5 consecutive years. In addition to competing, Erik brings 40+ yrs. of Public Speaking experience to the table. At the 2009 Yellowstone Conference, he presented "A Retrospective of Old Florida," showing images of structures and places, many of which are on The National Historical Register. This presentation was made possible due to the participation of many members of the Central Florida Chapter of PSA. At the 2010 Conference he presented his program, "The Art and Science of Critiquing Nature Images."
Erik enjoys shooting travel, Photojournalism and "scapes" however his first love is wildlife photography and being there.
