Great Wall by Gunther Riehle, GMPSA
"I did not have to get up early for THIS image, as it is sunset.
The image was taken last year in July after judging in PSA China salon. After the judging PSA China organized a special POST JUDGING Tour for me to some of the most beautiful Chinese photo locations.
One place was the Great Wall. Jinshanling section. The most beautiful part of the Great Wall. PSA China has a base there. Due to my GMPSA status I got full VIP treatment, the Director of the Wall Renovation / Maintenance Dept. himself showed me around together with Mrs. Li Wang, Chairperson of all so far 5 PSA China International Exhibitions of Photography, IR of Photographic Society of America (PSA) and Director of PSA China. We did one afternoon sunset tour and next very early morning sunrise tour. Due to the VIP treatment we did not have to do much hiking, we had special passes and were chauffeured directly to the base of the wall. The light situations on both occasions were not perfect, it was smoggy both times, but by using a partial neutral density filter the sunset images came out pretty well. This image also won the Dutch airline KLM quarterly ( theme landscape ) photo competition.
Photographic details, see EXIF data: Nikon D4, Nikon 28-105 mm lens at 72 mm, f 5.6, 1/800 sec, 200 ASA. B+W polarizing filter."
