If you are on this page, you probably enjoy traveling locally, nationally, or internationally. PTD, is here to help you plan for, and make trips to the places you want to go, as well as enjoy the photography of the places and the images you capture. The division has a range of services for individuals and clubs. PTD has a “Travel Advisory Service” intended to connect you with other photographers who may be more familiar with the places you are considering. There is an Image Evaluation Service listed on this webpage, that requires log in as a PSA member, where you can have your travel images evaluated for image quality and as an image that meets the Photo Travel definition. On the image evaluation page there are links to many PSA Journal articles about places to travel around the world.
PTD has a quarterly newsletter to communicate via email with PTD members, or any PSA members interested in subscribing. The newsletter describes experiences and tips that members have learned from their travels; reviews the various services and activities of the division; and provides up-to-date information regarding division competitions. If you are interested in receiving this newsletter, subscribe on the Newsletter tab below.
In PTD, there are many opportunities to share your photo travel images. The Study Groups allow you to share images and receive comments on them from the other members of the group. Comments are an individual’s opinion, but I believe they are valuable in honing our skills as a travel photographer. It also helps develop our skills through the comments we make on the images of others. Many of the places we share images include some level of competition. You can produce a travel slideshow and share it through Photo Travel Essays, you can enter your travel images in the many PSA recognized exhibitions around the world that include a PTD section in the exhibition. Exhibiting allows you to earn PTD Stars and Galaxies if you are so inclined. The PTD Interclub allows you and your fellow club members to enter as a club and compete against other clubs around the world. This provides an opportunity for your fellow club members to exhibit and receive recognition for images even before they become PSA members.
PSA members qualify for membership in the Photo Travel Division by participating in PTD through holding an elected Office, being the Director of an activity, earning a Star, Galaxy, or Diamond Rating, participating in the Travel Essay Competition, or a PTD Study Group.
