Review by commentator Rick C.
For the conditions you were shooting in I feel you captured a scene that goes a long way toward achieving your stated goal. Weather and weather related conditions are part of nature, however, the nature story here is not strong in my opinion. The story value is a 1 for me.

For the lighting you had, I feel you made a solid technical capture. There may be some room for a bit of additional sharpening, but in general I feel the technical rendition is good. The technical rating is a 3.

The main element for me is that central tree and so I find the composition static from that perspective. Moving it to either side would improve the visual tension. While you do have a full range of tones, the lighting leaves the image feeling flat. The tangle of snow covered branches works for your theme, but also results in what I would classify as a visual chaos that lowers the interest value for me. The pictorial rating for me is 1.

NATURE REVIEW OF THE IMAGE
Hi Pinaki. This is a most interesting photo to review. I do feel that you met your goal to a certain degree. There is beauty here, but not with strong impact.

TECHNICAL REVIEW OF IMAGE
Your settings work, but you do not tell me enough. Was this taken hand held, or on a tripod or monopod? Did use a remote, or the camera’s timer? How did you prepare? Did you pre-visualize the scene, or have the good fortune to happen upon it?

PICTORIAL REVIEW OF IMAGE
I like this p hotograph, but find it lacking strong impact. The many angles of the branches could confuse, but the center tree’s slightly brighter tone helps to draw the eye.

NATURE REVIEW OF THE IMAGE
We had a few beautiful snow storms near my home that had similar tree cover. Though a shot like this doesn't necessarily have a story per say, it does capture what it was intended to capture, the beauty of a fallen snow.

TECHNICAL REVIEW OF IMAGE
Fallen snow is really hard to try and get a good exposure with due to the amount of white in a shot. It does look like the contrast was enhanced a bit to make the branches give it some additional definition.

PICTORIAL REVIEW OF IMAGE
I like that the tree in the middle is the main focus of the image. Although there is a lot going on around it. It might do well to have some vignette to darken the bright white of the snow around the center tree.

NATURE REVIEW OF THE IMAGE
Hi Pinaki. I don't fins enough of a story within this image. I think one can see a walk way or some man cut item of wood to the right and I don't believe this should be in a Nature image unless it is very much part of the Nature story. By selecting a square crop from the left or the image would solve this.

TECHNICAL REVIEW OF IMAGE
Im not sure why you had to select a high ISO - perhaps is was quite dark. I thinks some of the larger areas of snow are 'blown out' with no detail in.

PICTORIAL REV IEW OF IMAGE
You have a family long lens and this has resulted in a limited area for us to look at, with not that much interest other than a very snows scene. There is no information to guide as where this is - this isn't always essential, but one needs something to tell a story.

NATURE REVIEW OF THE IMAGE
Beautiful shot of snow covered conifers(probably). From nature story view point in my perception this belongs to average nature story though.

TECHNICAL REVIEW OF IMAGE
Well exposed reasonably sharp photograph.

PICTORIAL REVIEW OF IMAGE
From pictorial point the photograph is good but perhaps an experiment on framing the subject could be more appreciated. Somehow it appears to me as a documentary shot.

NATURE REVIEW OF THE IMAGE
I appreciate what you were trying to achieve, but there isn’t much of a nature story in your image. Snow covered trees are pretty, but without a clear primary subject or strong composition the viewer is left wondering in a bad way.

TECHNICAL REVIEW OF IMAGE
Over all the image is well focussed and shot, but I think it would benefit greatly from some work in post. Perhaps converting to B&W and using masks selectively to bring some of the trees more into the foreground would be a way to go and thu s help improve the story you want to tell.

PICTORIAL REVIEW OF IMAGE
For me, the issues noted above regarding the lack of story and lack of clear subject mean that pictorially this image would work really well if there was a clear subject, say a deer or other animal and then the snow covered trees would be a the background that helped create the story.

NATURE REVIEW OF THE IMAGE
Snowy landscape with not much nature story.

TECHNICAL REVIEW OF IMAGE
Image is sharp. Areas with more snow are overwxposed.

PICTORIAL REVIEW OF IMAGE
I miss more ground. I would locate the main tree on 1/3.

NATURE REVIEW OF THE IMAGE
Although an unusual topic you chose but that is within set parameters. Portraying the trees amidst the snowy weather conditions shows a basic portrait value

TECHNICAL REVIEW OF IMAGE
Your use of ver shallow aperture values is creating a very narrower depth of field. Also the zero processing isn’t making things look good on the technical side.

PICTORIAL REVIEW OF IMAGE
Pictorially it’s not showing better due to the very weak technical sense applied
