Georges Dormoy

Born in the French Caribbean (Guadeloupe) in 1948,  I started photography when I was 10 years old, favouring travel, landscape and nature. I lived in the USA during 3 years from 1974 to 1976, in Port Washington (Long Island, New York). My passion for photography led me to be a co-founder of a new camera club in town, named "Port Washington Camera Club" in which I learned a lot in photography, simply by participating in photo contests and discussions with other club members. Then I moved to Switzerland and focused my attention to macrophotography, abstract and light painting.

I am currently retired and live in the Laurentides (Quebec, Canada) and wish to improve my photographic skills and submit some of my pictures in contests/exhibitions. My professional activity led me to travel around the world, visited nearly 70 countries and made around 50,000 color slides. The challenge I am now facing is to find the best way to convert some of them into digital photos.

I have been using Nikon equipment since 1974, starting with F2, then F2S, F3, F4 and started with my first digital camera (Nikon D90) in 2008 and upgraded regularly to higher camera models (D100, D700, D800 and now D850). I retired a few years ago and discovered lately a fantastic camera club in the Laurentides named "Club Photo des Pays-en-Haut) which gave me again the motivation I needed to continue my passion for photography. Still focusing on travel photos, macrophotos and nature/landscape.
