Jan Maguire, FPSA, MPSA

Photographer Jan Maguire has worked at her craft for over 35 years. Her photos and articles have appeared in various local newspapers and trade magazines, calendars for a local botanic garden and for The Nature Conservancy, and in a book on the geology of our national parks.

Jan has shared her skills over the years by presenting programs, workshops and field trips. She taught a series of beginning photography classes for over six years at a retail camera specialty store, and from that started a successful and continuing local interest group on a well-known photo-sharing website. Her interests are widely varied but focus mainly on wildlife and landscape nature, including time-lapse and night-sky photography. Her work is characterized by a sensitive intimacy with her subject, whether animal or plant.

Since joining PSA in 1986, Jan has served as Nature Division Star Ratings Director and Director of Exhibition Standards for the PJ Division. She has made numerous contributions to the PSA Journal and has earned 5 Editorial Stars. She also served on an ad hoc committee about digital truth, was a presenter at several PSA conferences, and served on the Honors committee. She earned her EPSA in 2000, her FPSA in 2001, and her MPSA in 2013.
