The Pictorial Print of the Year (PPY) competition is a special annual invitational competition to select the Pictorial Print of the Year in each of four categories: Large Color Print, Large Monochrome Print, Small Color Print, and Small Monochrome Print. Each section will have three (3) awards: First, Second, and Third Place - Pictorial Print of the Year.
Deadline: July 15
Entrants must be PSA members in good standing who are the winners of the Best of Show Gold, Silver, or Bronze medals in Pictorial Print Division Sections of PSA-Recognized Exhibitions whose closing dates occurred in the previous Calendar Year. Those who are not PSA members in good standing, but are otherwise qualified, may participate by becoming a PSA member. Judging is completed prior to the PSA Annual Conference, and the awards are presented at the PPD breakfast during the Conference. The twelve (12) award winning prints are on display at the PSA Annual Conference. All entries will be considered for acceptance into the PSA Print Collection. No prints will be returned. The Pictorial Print of the Year Competition is not a PSA-Recognized Exhibition and does not count toward PSA Star Ratings or Who's Who.
A. Entries - The original winning print or a reprint as close as possible to the original may be entered. The reprint must be the same size as the award winning entry and have the same title. Prints must not be mounted unless the original winning print was mounted and is submitted. Information on the back of the print must include: Image Title, Entrant's Name, Entrant's PSA Membership Number, and the Exhibition that awarded the medal. No written information may be shown on the front of the print. If a high resolution digital file is available, the entrant is requested to include it on a CD with the entry. Entrants must submit their prints, completed and signed Entry Form(s) page 1 and page 2, and if available a copy of the digital file.
B. Entry Sections - Each print must be entered in one of four sections: Large Color (CPA), Large Monochrome (MPA), Small Color (CPB) or Small Monochrome (MPB). If an entrant submits prints for more than one section, a separate Entry Form must be completed for each section.
C. Multiple Entries In The Same Section - Entrants who have multiple medals in the same section with different titles may submit all entries on one Entry Form. There must be only one entry in the Print of the Year competition per title. If one title received multiple medals, it must be shown as one entry.
D. Monochrome Definition - All monochrome prints receiving a medal in a PPD PSA-Recognized Exhibition are qualified as monochrome prints for this competition.
E. License Agreement - The License Agreement is located on the Entry Form. Signing the License Agreement is a condition of entry.
The entrant to this PSA activity needs to submit a signed Model Release with his/her entry for any portrait image, including all the recognizable likenesses of a human face, which were not taken in a public location. The entrant and model agree to hold PSA harmless against all claims and liabilities arising out of PSA’s publication, display, or other use of any portrait image submitted to PSA. Award images will be posted on the PSA web site and selected images may be published in the PSA Journal/Division Newsletters. Portrait images submitted without a Model Release, if selected for an award, will not be posted on the PSA website or published in the PSA Journal/Division Newsletters. For those who do not have a Model Release, a sample Model Release Form is linked below.
