As you can image, I am very pumped up to begin the role of acting as the (Georgia) State Membership Director for the PSA, and I have a few items I want to share with you.
First, and foremost, I hope to share with you my passion for the art of photography and all the variety of photographic genres encompassing both Film and Digital based formats. I can’t wait to speak with you about the different photography clubs across our state, from Ellijay, Ga to the coast of Savannah, and all the other cities and towns in between that host photography clubs or guilds. They are all wonderful sources to connect with other photographers in a variety of settings to share photographs and shooting/vacation destinations, discuss local photography competitions, or just hang out to enjoy each other’s company over coffee or tea.
Next, and as important, the very heart of the Photographic Society of America (PSA) is its plethora of educational tutorials, online classes and mentoring programs, together, offer PSA members the opportunities to grow their knowledge of photography, including but not limited to, technical skillsets from behind the lens, in the field techniques to help us capture better more engaging photography, and in front of computer monitors learning the most up to date digital software techniques and concepts in completing a piece of fine art photography. And so much more! Lastly, I love receiving my PSA Journal every month! Frankly, it is one of the better (quality) printed and informative photography magazines on the market - and it is free with every membership.
I am here to answer all your questions regarding the PSA membership, services the PSA offer, and anything relating to photography. My open-office policy has no restrictions: feel free to email me at any time and I will try my best to get back with you within 24 hours, and in most cases, the same day. If necessary, we can plan a phone call after the initial email contact. By all means, please share this introductory letter with friends and acquaintances that have interest in photography and perhaps joining the PSA with you.
I look forward to speaking with you all, soon. Thank you.
Kind regards, Lance A. Lewin, Georgia State Membership Director (SMD)
INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS: For individual members, I would like to personally recommend a few of the many PSA services available to you, that I feel you can benefit from immediately, and are easy to participate in. These include; Image Evaluation Service, Online Courses, Member Galleries, and PSA Competitions. There are many more that you can find listed on this Website. I hope you will take advantage of them.
MEMBER CLUBS: For PSA member clubs, there are great opportunities for your club to be involved and benefit from your membership in PSA. PSA can also be a good link between your club and other clubs, to share ideas, resources, photographic opportunities and more. To take advantage of your club’s PSA membership, I recommend you start by navigating to the Clubs & Councils page on this Website. If you need more information, or help getting started, please contact me, your Georgia State Membership Director.
I encourage you to become involved in your PSA as much as you can. The best way to maximize your benefits in PSA membership is for you to be involved. Your satisfaction with PSA, I believe, will greatly depend upon how involved you are and how much effort you put into it. The personnel and volunteers of PSA, such as me, are here to help you. Please feel free to let us know how we can do that. I look forward to hearing from you.
An important part of the PSA experience is recognizing the hundreds of volunteers that promote the Society and its programs. Directors and chairs propose those working for them for recognition awards. However, there are many who are equally as deserving but have not been identified. Please consider proposing a worthy member for PSA Honors, Society Recognition Awards and PSA Services Awards. Your Membership Director can provide you with assistance, when necessary.
