Gary Walter


Gary has been making photographs since 1968 when his father gave him his first 35mm film camera and during college he was a yearbook photographer learning darkroom techniques in the process. Since his retirement in 2013 from a 38 year career in occupational health and safety he has made the move to digital photography beginning in 2002 and entered his first print competition in 2004.

Joining the Delaware Photographic Society in 2011 and the Photographic Society of America a year later he began competing in DPS monthly competitions as well as PSA international exhibitions. Lighthouses and waterfalls are two of his frequent subjects. In 2018 he was awarded silver and bronze medals in the Wilmington International Exhibition of Photography. In 2017 he had his first solo exhibition "Revolutionary America: Delaware, Pennsylvania & Maryland" at the Music School of Delaware.

In PSA Interclub Creative competitions, he has had several images accepted including a Best in Show in 2018. He has had images accepted at the National Lighthouse Museum, Longwood Gardens, Mt. Cuba Center, PNC Bank of Delaware and the Wilmington News Journal.
