Title:  Spitting Cave

Goal:   This picture was shot at Spitting Cave in Hawaii. I tried to catch the scene in the golden light.

Equipment/Source:    Nikon D610, Nikkor 18-35mm, f9, .7sec
Technique:   I had my camera on the tripod and I timed the waves getting inside the cave to be "spitted" out because of the pressure created.

Lr and Ps toning, cropping, sharpening, and contrast.

Title:  Casual walk
Goal:   This picture was shot about one mile before entering Grand Canyon National Park. I was driving when I saw a couple of cars parked on the side of the road. I was a little intrigued because I knew there no parking. Then I realized that the passengers of those cars were watching a heard of elks walking casually by the road.

Equipment/Source:  Nikon D610, Nikkor 105mm 2.8 @f2.8 ISO 100, Shutter speed 1/160 A (aperture priority), Spot metering.

Technique:  This is a handheld shot.

Processing:   Ps crop, contrast, and sharpening)

Review by commentator Dan C.

The position of the legs does provide action to the image so it does have a story above just “Here I Am”

Technically the image is well handled, with good sharpness and good exposure.

I do find the image a bit stronger if it is flipped horizontal so the elk is facing the left.  It then puts the elk in a more dominant position and it increases the interaction between the subject and the viewer.
