Volunteer Services: Present Volunteer Opportunities


This list of volunteer opportunities is updated regularly. Members who are interested in one of the positions listed, should read about the program or activity on the webpage that is linked, read the Master Operating Manual (MOM) for the position if it is linked, and complete the Volunteer Application. The volunteer will be contacted as soon as possible.

Members who have a PSA position in need of a volunteer need to provide the information requested on the Post a PSA Volunteer Position form and the position will be posted on this page.


  • Volunteer Services Director     *NEW POSITION*
    A volunteer who will coordinate and direct the identification and matching of volunteers to the positions available in the society. This position reports to the Executive Vice President, and the Executive Vice President is serving as the Interim Volunteer Services Director.

  • Translation Services Director     *NEW POSITION*
    A volunteer to organize, direct, and establish quality assurance for PSA's translation of various program and activity documents. This position will report to the Volunteer Services Director.

  • Education Services: Deputy Director, Education Services      *NEW POSITION*
    A member is needed to assist the Education Services Director to manage the existing PSA education services as well as help expand these services.  The Deputy will to serve as the Director in his absence.  This position reports to the Education Services Director.

  • Education Services: Online Instructors      *NEW POSITION*
    Instructors need to be knowledgeable in most aspects of photography.  They need to analyze the work of students from projects done using a textbook. This position reports to the Education Services Director.

  • Education Services: Curriculum Builders      *NEW POSITION*
    PSA is currently replacing the commercial textbook that is used in an online course in favor of building a PSA curriculum. Several persons who are proficient in certain photography disciplines are needed to provide images and text so lessons can be built around them. The current needs are:
       • Landscape    • Architecture   • The elements of a fine photograph   • Animals, zoo and wild   • Action    • Birds
    This position reports to the Education Services Director.

  • Mentor
    PSA members who have experience regarding a specific photography topic and are willing to share their knowledge with members who wish to explore this topic are needed as Mentors for the following areas: 
      • Architectural Photography   • Equestrian Photography    • Landscape Photography
    This position reports to the Mentor Services Committee Chair.

  • PSA Journal Hardware Review Editor
    A technically orientated volunteer with writing skills is needed to write quarterly hardware reviews for the PSA Journal. This position reports to the Publications Vice President.

  • The Projector News Editor
    A volunteer to be the Editor of The Projector. The Projector is a newsletter that is sent quarterly to all PSA-member Club and Council Representatives. The News Editor should be familiar with PSA activities and services for member clubs and councils. The volunteer should have writing and computer technical skills. The position reports to the Chapters, Clubs and Councils Vice President.

  • Color Projected Image Division (CPID) Who's Who Director
    Exhibitors who have received acceptances in PSA-recognized Color Projected Image Division (CPID) Exhibitions may qualify for publication in PSA's annual Who's Who in Photography. A volunteer is needed to compile and tally the acceptances from catalogs submitted by each PSA-recognized CPID Exhibition beginning with 2012. PSA's Who's Who in Photography is published each year and mailed to all PSA members with the May issue of the PSA Journal. This position reports to the CPID Chair and the Who's Who Committee Chair.

  • Photo Travel Division (PTD) Who's Who Director
    Exhibitors who have received acceptances in PSA-recognized Photo Travel Division (PTD) Exhibitions may qualify for publication in PSA's annual Who's Who in Photography. A volunteer is needed to compile and tally the acceptances from catalogs submitted by each PSA-recognized Photo Travel Exhibition beginning with 2012. PSA's Who's Who in Photography is published each year and mailed to all PSA members with the May issue of the PSA Journal. This position reports to the PTD Chair and the Who's Who Committee Chair.

  • Photo Travel Division Interclub Competition Director**POSITION FILLED**
    A volunteer to be responsible for the Photo Travel Division Interclub Competition for PSA-member Clubs. The director oversees the conduct of three competitions per year and the reporting of the results to the clubs, PSA Journal, and PSA web site. The present Director is available for training. This position reports to the Photo Travel Division Chair.

  • Photo Travel Division Deputy Exhibition Standards Directors
    Two (2) volunteers who have entered PSA-recognized Exhibitions or have experience hosting a PSA-recognized Exhibition to work with the Photo Travel Division Exhibition Standards Director as Deputy Exhibition Standards Directors. Candidates need to possess computer skills and be skilled in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. For more information contact the Division Chair.

  • 3D Division Traveling Competition Director
    A volunteer to be responsible for the 3D Division Traveling Competition for PSA members. The director oversees the conduct of this competition that travels 3D clubs in the US as a club program. The Director reports the results to the participants, PSA Journal, and PSA web site. The present Director is available to help with training. This position reports to the 3D Division Chair.

  • Region Director (RD)
    The volunteer who is responsible for the membership retention and acquisition efforts of the region or an area within a region. If interested, the Region Director Master Operating Manual (job description) should be reviewed. The Regions, or portion of a region, where a volunteer Region Director is needed are:
